In order to investigate the dynamic range of to DART® for Tablet analysis we used the Temperature Profiling Method to analyze both the Daytime and Nighttime Caplets. Using the 350C profile as the optimum temperature for simultaneous generation of ions, we were able to detect the Chlorpheniramine Maleate present at only 0.5% of the tablet mass.

Night Caplet
Acetaminophen
-325 mg/caplet

Dextromethorphan HBR
-10 mg/caplet

Phenylephrine HCl
-5 mg/caplet

Chlorpheniramine Maleate

In the case of a low resolution mass analyzer we are able to determine the presence of the Chloropheniramine by using the isotope ratio between the Cl 35 and Cl 37. A high resolution accurate mass analysis could serve to confirm the ID.

An alternative method is to change the speed of sampling stage. The faster speed provides further utility for analysis.
